Where will Pogba be next?

February 28, 2016

Paul Pogba, a 22-year old Juventus midfielder, may be moving to La Liga this summer.  Pogba is originally from France, but that is not stopping him from considering both Manchester City and Chelsea.  However, his top choice is with either FC Barca or Real Madrid.  There are many eyes on Pogba at the moment, but he does seem to prefer a move to La Lifa over a move back to the Premier League.  All of these teams are willing to spend big money on Pogba.  The player also has great things to say about Pep Guardiola including, “…but clearly if you have the change to work with someone like him, you can only develop further”.  There are many mixed signals regarding what team he will choose so we will have to wait and see.

Which team do you want Pogba to play for? Which do you think he should play for or would be best for him as a player?

  1. FC Barca just extended Neymar Jr.'s contract 5 years over the past week. There were already reports prior to that deal that FCB would not be able too keep Messi, Neymar and Suarez long term, knowing how much each of their contracts would likely be. With the three of these forwards under contract until 2018 and 2019, I don't see it being very likely for Progba to go to FCB this summer. Then again, Barca made a huge jump on the Deloitte Revenue Report that was released last month so maybe it is possible for Progba to end up in Catalunya. Should be exciting to see where he ends up this summer.

  2. I agree with Jacob in that FCB probably does not need the player at this point. He could probably wait and end up getting a good deal from Barca in a few years, but I am assuming that he would like to make a decision now. My guess is that he will be playing with a new team this summer that is not FCB and whichever offers him the most money because that is the business of the sport.

  4. Paul Pogba should not play for FCB or Real Madrid. Paul Pogba is a top talent with unbelievable amount of potential. His talent and potential will be overshadowed by the top players on both FCB and Real. A player like Pogba should go somewhere he can have an immediate impact and an opportunity to grow by playing a lead role on the club he ends up at. I think Man City would be a perfect fit and that Pep will do a great job developing him into a top 5 player in the world. Pogba would start immediately at Man City but would have to wait a year or two to start at FCB.

  5. I respectfully disagree with Daniel. While it is important for Pogba to be a star at his next club, with Iniesta hitting the end of his career, he would rotate between Iniesta, Rakitic, and Busquets for a year, before becoming an instant starter for the following year, which is a good way to ease a player in.

  6. I think that it is still very much up in the air to see who gets Pogba's signature this summer. Of course Barcelona is in the hunt but I really don't think its best for him as a player or good for football to see him join the club. Barcelona are already the clear best team in the world and adding another member of the world xi would make Barcelona's games so one sided it would be quite boring because you know which team would win. Real have been struggling this year and I think they are the favorites to sign the star in order to regain an even competition with Barcelona. However I think Manchester City has the best chance of any premier league team tossing him due to their huge financial budget and the addition of Pep Guardiola this summer. Of course I'd love to see Pogba at Arsenal and he would fit quite well as a box to box midfielder, but I don't see Wenger outbidding the larger clubs.

  7. I am really unaware of what Pogba's talents are. The only attachment I have to him is through the Game FIFA and not even the most recent FIFA, 2016. However, as a 22 year old a desireable place would be one where a player would grow most. Where that is, I have no idea. I can imagine Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich being great teams to learn from and build since he would be playing with arguably most of the top 25 players in the world if he chose one of these teams. He will obviously learn a lot from teams such as these mentioned, so the question really comes down to what he wants specifically. Maybe it is a specific coach such as Pep Guardiola as it is hinted he wants to play for him or perhaps he wants to play with other frenchmen such as Ribery of Bayern Munich or Benzema of Real Madrid. If he wants money all of these teams will probably give top dollar. If it was me, I would pick a team where I would be the star and the team would be able to build around me. In agreeance with Daniel, I would not want to be overshadowed by these top players. But if I was him and was down to FC Barcelona or Real Madrid, the obvious choice is with the catalonian team.

  8. I do not see a wrong choice for him in terms of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, or Manchester City. I believe that training with Pep Guardiola and under the competitiveness of the EPL would really benefit Paul Pogba in his career aspirations; however, a move to a Spanish giant would always be extremely beneficial.
